Karnataka Nursing Student forced to drink toilet cleaner during ragging

A nursing student is battling for life after she was forced to drink toilet cleaning lotion as a part of ragging. The incident took place in a nursing college at Gulbarga in Karnataka where she was allegedly ragged by senior Malayali students. A native of Edappal, the victim has been admitted to Kozikode Medical College Hospital.

She was brought earlier this month from Karnataka to the Kozhikode Medical College, where she spent over a week in the ICU. In her complaint to the Karnataka police, the woman has alleged that she was harassed and tortured for five months by third year students.
The ragging at the hostel, she alleges, was so severe that she was forced to strip. The principal of the nursing institute, Dr Esther, told to media : "The incident took place was during the holidays. They knew it was phenol but they still made her drink it. She was admitted to the hospital immediately. She was discharged after four days.

Then she was in the hostel for three days and was sent back to Kerala. I don't know anything beyond this." Doctors say the toilet cleaning fluid has burnt the student's internal organs. A case of ragging has been filed by the police.
