Kapil Sharma may face upto 3 years in jail

These days Kapil Sharma involved in some legal issues. Television’s most loved comedian Kapil Sharma has been making headlines for a while now. The actor has been involved in a feud with the Modi government after he blamed the BMC for demanding a bribe of Rs 5 lakh in relation to the construction of his new office. Kapil took to twitter to expose this corrupt practice carried out by an unnamed BMC official. This tweet created a huge hulabaloo across the nation. Since then Kapil’s name has been cropped up in a controversy related to his Goregaon residence. A FIR has been filed against the celebrity’s 9th floor flat in the city’s high-rise DLH Enclave. The latest update in this case is that Kapil Sharma can be jailed for nearly three years if he is found guilty in the matter.

The FIR, registered by P-South ward sub engineer Abhay Jagtap, books the named flat owners and the builder under section 53 (7) of the Maharashtra Regional Town Planning Act (MRTP), 1966. This section deals with prosecuting flat owners for not complying with notices against unauthorized constructions. Conviction under the section invites a jail term varying from one month to three years, and a fine of Rs 2,000-5,000.

According to the reports, BMC has found major violations in 15 flats in the Goregaon building. It has discovered that unauthorized work has been carried out on the 9th floor of DLH Enclave, where the host of Sony TV’s The Kapil Sharma Show resides. The list of unauthorized work includes several elevation features, ducts, voids, common passage and part podium for parking. The alterations listed by the BMC’s report contradict the full occupation certificate issued in November 2013 by the P-South ward office. The BMC officer was asked to submit supporting documents in regards to the case before filing an FIR on July 12. The documents were duly submitted on August 24. According to Economic Times report, the FIR was to be filed after the Ganesh festival.

Hence it is assumed that the sudden rush in filing an FIR against Kapil Sharma is a result of his recent fallout with the BMC official? Will he be proved guilty in the case? Will Kapil Sharma be jailed for 3 years? If yes, then what will happen to his TV show, The Kapil Sharma Show?
