Kashmir. Two militants are reported to be killed in two separate encounters with the security forces in Shopian and Kupwara districts on Kashmir, raising concern of the security forces in the province. According to the information, Kupwara is still facing gunbattles.
An army official told, “Hizbul Mujahideen militant Farooq Ahmad was killed in the gunbattle with security forces in the early hours on Tuesday at Pehlipora in Sopian, 52 kms from Srinagar.” He said another unidentified militant was also killed in the encounter in Kupwara; however, operation is still going on there.
“The gunned down terrorist was involved in terrorist countered incidents. A Sarpanch was also killed by him last year. Also, one AK56, huge reserve of ammunition, magazines and several documents recovered from the terrorist,” said RS Bazaz, Commanding Officer, 44RR.
“No casualties, loss of lives or property caused during Sopian gunbattle,” Bazaz said.
