Jharkhand: Atleast 8 wounded in clashes during Durga immersion


Dumka (Jharkhand): Atleast Eight people, including two police personnel were wounded during Durga Pooja immersion at Jharkhand on Tuesday.

On Tuesday, The violence took place near Pahridih village under Jama police station. After the immersion of five day Durga Puja, several people of Peerghadih came to the spot to worship their goddess Mata.

In the battle, around eight people got wounded including assistant sub- inspector Manoj Kumar and an havildar Ranjit Mandal. Despite of high security, the idol was also smashed but it was immersed late in the night.

Nearly Four persons were detained after the violence but Peerghadih villagers are also demanding the arrest of other people as they were involved in the damage of Muharram tazia at Pahridih .

The police dispersed the mob and another nine people were arrested taking the total apprehended in the two incidents to 13, Kumar said.

FIR was lodged against 31 people under section 144 Cr Pc while 150 others have been taken into custody.
