Jaipur: A 26-year-old taxi driver was shot dead by bike-borne assailants on Saturday night in Pratap Nagar area. The police suspect it to be revenge killing and think there might have been more than one person involved in it.
According to the police, taxi driver Virendra Gurjar was returning from Hindon. "He was shot dead from a close range, the circumstantial evidence indicates that Gurjar knew the assailants," said a senior police official.
The police also said that the murder seems to be a case of 'revenge killing' over some dispute that may have taken place in Hindon. "We have zeroed on the suspects. Prima facie evidence suggests that it was a pre-planned murder as the criminals had prior information about Gurjar's movements," police said.
On Saturday night, Gurjar was going to his room when bike-borne assailants shot him. Hearing gun shots, the nearby residents ran towards Gurjar. The criminals fled the spot after they saw people coming towards the victim. A profusely bleeding Gurjar was rushed to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
