JAIPUR: The special operations group (SOG) of Rajasthan police on Sunday arrested another aide of fugitive gangster Anandpal Singh. A special team of SOG arrested Rishi Raj Singh (36) from Jaipur and recovered a pistol from him. "Rishi had provided shelter to Anandpal Singh. Anandpal even stayed at his house in Jaipur after he escaped from the prison. Rishi has earlier been booked under several cases related to duping of foreign tourists," a senior SOG official told to media.
Rishi worked as a 'tourist guide' and had travelled to Jodhpur, Delhi and Goa. Sources within SOG said that Anandpal Singh was in touch with Rishi after he escaped from the prison last year, and was looking for safe havens to hide from the police.
"We had received information that Rishi had given Rs 10 lakh to Anandpal. Rishi gave shelter to Anandpal on multiple occasions. There are cases pending against him in Sushant Lok police station in Gurgaon," an official said.
SOG has registered a case against Rishi under the Arms Act. Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) and SOG, the two specialized units of Rajasthan police, are on a hunt to nail down Anandpal Singh since his daredevil escape from the police custody in Nagaur in September last year. The teams have been nailing down his close aides to get closer to the wanted criminal.
