Jaipur: Nurses protest over abolition of posts


Protesting against "abolition" of 6,822 posts of nurses, Rajasthan Nurses Association conducted a gate meeting outside Sawai Man Singh (SMS) Hospital for two hours on Thursday.

They threatened to organise indefinite dharna outside the hospital if their demands are not met. The nurses from Mahila chikitsalaya, Gangauri hospital, JK Lon hospital, Zanana hospital, Jaipuria hospital and department of psychiatry gathered outside the main gate of the hospital and raised slogans demanding from the government to re-sanction the abolished posts.

RNA vice president Javed Naqvi said government has abolished their 6,822 posts. He said that probation period of newly appointed nurses has to be completed now. Also, he demanded that nurses should also get the right to prescribe medicines.

He said that they would sit on indefinite dharna, if government does not fulfil their demands. Agitating nurses said that at the time when seasonal diseases are at its peak, the government is ignoring those healthcare staff which is providing relief to patients in the hospital.
