Jaipur Getting a new water connection will be easier and cheaper in Jaipur from the Public Health and Engineering Department (PHED). Now anybody can get water connection by submitting their identity proof only. Also, it will not be mandatory for residents to submit affidavit and agreement to procure water connection.
An official of PHED told the media, "Earlier, residents have to submit Rs 500 affidavit and Rs 50 agreement to get the connection. The department has decided not to charge these amounts from residents."
Chief engineer CM Chauhan said to ease the process and reduce the paper work for residents, it has been decided that house-owners can procure water connection after submitting self-attested form. Similarly, tenants can deposit photocopy of rent agreement to get new water connection. He further informed that the process has been simplified and residents can download forms from the website www.rajwater.gov.in to procure connection. After receiving application, the assistant engineer will check the feasibility of the connection within four working days. Once the feasibility is checked, the connection will be operational in next three days. "After completion of process it would be mandatory for the applicant to deposit photographs and self-attested form. The connection will only be made operational after that,” he reported to the media.
It was further informed that the department has also provided relaxation that residents can get their connection installed by any plumber. "Earlier, there was a rule that only those plumbers who are registered under PHED can install a water connection. However, now people can get it installed by any plumber, irrespective of whether registered or not," added an official. Getting water connection from Public health and Engineering Department (PHED) will get easier and cheaper in the city.
