PUNE: Shooter Sanjeev Rajput achieved silver medal in the 50m rifle 3 position of ISSF World Cup which took place in Baku, Azerbaijan on Tuesday.
Croatia's Petar Gorsa won the gold medal with 457.5, while Hyeonjun Kim of Korea bagged the bronze after he shot 445.5.
Earlier, Rajput was honoured by gold medal in 2011 Changwon World Cup.In the qualification round,he secured seventh position in the match by applying 120 shot. He shot 456.9 in the finals to win the silver.
Moreover, Rajput Gagan Narang secured 23rd position while Chain Singh stood 32nd in the qualification round. In the knockouts, Rajput remained in top-three bracket and finally shot 456.9 for the silver, behind Petar Gorsa (457.5) of Croatia and ahead of Korea's Kim Hyeonjun (445.5).
"It means a lot to me. I have won a World Cup medal after five years and this comes after some tough rounds of shooting," Rajput told TOI.
He further added "It was difficult to judge the wind. I had to pay for my wrong judgment in the first series of kneeling. But then I read it better and pushed the trigger at the right time.”
