Irrfan Khan’s Inferno will release in India, two weeks before US

Irrfan Khan’s Inferno which also stars Hollywood actor Tom Hanks, will release in India on October 14, two weeks before it will hit the American screens.
Irrfan Khan is seen doing some hardcore action scenes, shows streaks of being the bad guy and then flaunts a discerning smile in the special India trailer of forthcoming Hollywood film ‘Inferno’, which maintains the mystery element around his character.

Inferno sees symbologist (Tom Hanks) once again attempting to foil a plot that may well wipe out the earth’s population. He wakes up in an Italian hospital with amnesia, and teams up with Dr Sienna Brooks (Felicity Jones), in the hopes of recovering his memories. Their joint mission to save the world, and revive Langdon’s memories takes them on a deadly race across Europe, and brings them up against Irrfan Khan’s character.
“I really want to know why this is happening and it is a great thing for India we can watch a film before America watches it,” said Irrfan Khan.
“India is being percieved as a big, very important market for Hollywood. And secondly it’s because you’re there in it,” said Vivek Krishnani, Managing Director Sony Pictures Entertainment India, pointing at the Madaari actor.
“I think this brings such a lot of credibility to the film, and the fact that it is set in India, I believe a lot of people are going to turn up to watch the film. Because of this, they have allowed us to release it two weeks in advance. This hype itself is good enough to get people into theatres. We are hoping the accumulation of these few things brings us good numbers at the box office,” Vivek Krishnani added.
On asking Irrfan Khan about his opinion on the potential of Indian market for international films, he replied,”I think it is growing very rapidly and Indian films are being affected by it. In other countries too Hollywood has captured a good market. In a way it is a challenge for the Indian film industry, we have to pull our socks up and it is becoming bigger and bigger every week,” added Irrfan Khan.
Although Inferno is not crashing with any other releases, it looks like Mirzya, Shivaay and Ae Dil Hai Mushkil have some tough competition already this month.
