India’s Men Archery Team failed to make it up for Rio Olympics


Sports. The Indian Men Archery team remained unsuccessful to make a gash for Olympics after losing to Malaysia on Thursday in the quarterfinals of shoot-off at the final Olympic qualifying tournament.

The best bet Indian side, with Mangal Singh Champia, Atanu Das and Jayanta Talukdar blowed host Turkey at 5-4 (26-24) in the first round but lost against Malaysia at 5-4 (28-27) in the next round.

India, which led 4-2 at one stage, allowed Malaysia to draw level. In the shoot-off, the Malaysians rained on India’s parade to reach semifinals.

Malaysia beat Germany 6-2 in the bronze medal match to get a team spot at Rio.

Indonesia and France were the Gold and Silver medalist to get through.

In the World Cup being held concurrent, Atanu Das lost 6-0 in the semifinals to South Korea’s Bonchan Ku and will meet another Korean named Woojin Kim in the race for bronze medal of the men’s recurve individual competition.

The Indian women’s recurve and compound teams will soon play their bronze medal matches against Italy and Indonesia respectively.
