The Indian women’s hockey team won the game against Japan on Sunday in the finals of Asia Cup tournament. This win helped the team to reach to the top 10 position in the FIH world rankings. In the ranking table, the Indian team achieved sixth position after the match. The top spot is being secured by European champions Netherlands, England, Argentina, Australia, and USA.
On the other hand, Chile made substantial achievements reaching to fifth spot from 20th to 15th following they achieved the silver medal in Pan American Cup tournament that took place in year 2017.
The India’s men’s team has maintained the sixth position in the latest rankings.
Prior, Hockey India declared a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh each to the 18-member team which clinched the 2017 Asia Cup in Kakamigahara, Japan. As per the reports, Coach Harendra Singh will receive Rs 1 lakh and associates of the support employees will get Rs 50,000 each.
Last, India clinched the Women’s Asia Cup tournament in year 2004 in New Delhi. The squad scored 28 goals.
