Indian woman working with NGO kidnapped in Kabul


Kabul : An Indian woman has been kidnapped by unknown persons in Kabul. According to initial reports, the abducted woman has been identified as Judith D’Souza, who hails from Kolkata. The victim, who was working as a senior technical adviser at Agha Khan network, an international NGO, was kidnapped around 10:40 PM on Thursday from the Taimani area of Kabul.

According to media reports, identified the woman as 40-year-old Judith D’Souza, a resident of Kolkata. The woman, a senior technical adviser with the Aga Khan Foundation, was abducted from Kabul on Thursday night, the reports said. The government, sources said, was in touch with her family and the Indian mission in Kabul. Surveillance teams and special forces were trying to locate the woman whose mobile phone was switched on for some time after the abduction.

Indian assets and its people have often come under attack in the war-ravaged Afghanistan, where New Delhi is leading the rebuilding effort. According to initial probe, her mobile phone was on for some time after she was kidnapped. More details are awaited.
