New Delhi: The Indian railway from May 26 to June 1 will launch a weeklong celebration programme to mark the completion of two years of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government.
“The week will be celebrated as ‘Rail humsafar’ and during the period we will focus on passenger amenities including cleanliness, catering, punctuality among others to mark the completion of two years,” said a senior Railway Ministry official.
Each day of the week will focus on a particular theme and will be observed as Swachchta Diwas, Satkar Diwas, Sewa Diwas, Satarkata Diwas, Saamanjasya Diwas, Sanyojan Diwas and Sanchaar Diwas.
Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu has directed all the general managers to personally supervise the activities undertaken during the week-long celebrations.
During the last two years, a number of initiatives have been launched and significant achievements made by the Indian Railways in all spheres, especially in its responsiveness, accessibility and improvement of passenger amenities.
