India beat Sri Lanka by 304 runs in the first test match on Saturday at Galle. It helped the team to take 1-0 lead in the three-match series. After the victory, Indian squad was spotted celebrating the day. On Twitter handle, the team posted the photograph in a room and wrote, ‘Victory tastes as good when we play FIFA.’
The photograph showed Rohit Sharma in the front taking a selfie and other players Shikhar Dhawan, Cheteshwar Pujara, Wriddhiman Saha and two others gossiping at the back. It appears like Dhawan is making attempts to clarify something.
Shikhar Dhawan and Pujara’s centuries made great contributions in the game in the first-innings of test match. After Murali Vijay got wounded, Shikhar Dhawan was taken in the team. He showcased outstanding performance in the match and became only the third batsman following Sir Don Bradman and Virender Sehwag to clinch 100 runs in a single session on two test matches.
In the warm up match, Rohit Sharma played against Sri Lanka Board’s President XI earlier to the first Test in Colombo where he had clinched 38 runs. On Saturday, Rohit Sharma wrote after India’s triumph, “Great start to the tour boys… Way to go #TeamIndia.”
Indian players including Sachin Tendulkar, Yuvraj Singh and Mohammad Kaif also applauded the team on social media.
Now, India will face off Sri Lanka in the second Test from August 3 at Colombo. Later, both the teams will play a five-match ODI series and one Twenty20.
