After the Indian woman cricketer Harmanpreet Kaur, now Navjot Kaur, the first Indian woman wrestler to win gold medal in Senior Asian Wrestling Competition, got an offer to become a DSP in Punjab Police.
On Friday, Department of Tourism and Cultural Affairs Minister, Navjot Singh Sidhu honored Navjot Kaur. He called Navjot and his family to his home tea and talked openly about the game.
Sidhu shared his experience as a former player. He also thanked the Chief Minister for offering Rs five lakh to Navjot and the DSP’s job.
Describing Navjot as an ideal for youths, especially the girls, the minister said that with her victory, other youngsters would also adopt the game as a career and the country will become a big force in the sports field.
He advised Navjot as a player and said to focus her attention on the game. Sidhu also bestowed on Navjot for this year’s Commonwealth and Asian Games and the gold medal in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
