Kedar Jadhav struck his maiden Twenty20 International half-century as India overcame a poor start to post 138 for six in the series-decider against Zimbabwe here today. Jadhav smashed 58 off 42 balls before Axar Patel (20 off 11) came up with a late cameo to take India to a competitive total. India clinch three-match T20I series after registering a thrilling three-run win in the third and final T20I match. The visitors had to work hard for the trophy.
Zimbabwe, after winning the toss and putting India in, dominated proceedings with wickets at regular intervals. After losing the top-order cheaply, Kedar Jadhav steadied the ship for India and pushed the total to 138/6 – something which seemed difficult at the half-way stage of the innings. In reply, Zimbabwe took on Indian bowling attack initially. Vusi Sibanda and Peter Moor began to play some aggressive strokes but they were undone by Dhawal Kulkarni and Yuzvendra Chahal respectively. The hosts showed promise at the start but lost their way in the middle overs.
They returned with the promise in the final over as Maruma started the 20th with a six and hit Sran’s no-ball for a boundary to reduce the equation to 9 off 5. The seamer, however, showed a cool head to defend the total and keep Zimbabwe three runs away from the target.
