It is always a difficult task to win a three-day match, but India tested West Indies Cricket Board President's XI in Saint Kitts to come close on the final day of the second warm-up game on Saturday. India have lot of positives to take from the second tour game against WICB President's XI that ended in a draw. KL Rahul, Ravindra Jadeja and R Ashwin returned with impressive performances in St Kitts, ahead of the first Test starting July 21.
WICB President's XI, resuming their innings from 26/1, John Campbell (31) fell early to Jadeja. Then Virat Kohli took a brilliant catch at short fine-leg off Ashwin's bowling to send back Shai Hope cheaply. Then the hosts decided to opt for a more careful approach to pull off a draw. Test regular, Jermaine Blackwood scored a fighting fifty, well supported by Vishaul Singh and Montcin Hodge who got 39 each.
Earlier, Ashwin and Jadeja helped India to bowl out WICB President's XI for 180 in their first innings. Then in reply, the visitors scored 364 with a first innings lead of 184 – thanks to the fifties from Rahul, Kohli and Jadeja. India are touring West Indies for four Tests, with the first match being scheduled in Antigua.
