New Delhi: Suresh Raina will miss the second India versus New Zealand ODI in Delhi on Thursday. The left-hander has still not recovered from a bout of viral fever that kept him out of first ODI in Dharamsala. Raina was named in the India ODI squad for the first three ODIs of ongoing series against New Zealand but missed the first ODI in Dharamsala due to the fever.
"The BCCI Medical team has confirmed that Suresh Raina, who is recovering from a bout of viral fever and had missed the Dharamsala ODI, is ruled out of the second ODI of the Paytm ODI Trophy against New Zealand.
The team management has allowed Suresh Raina more time to recover. There will be no replacement in the team," said a BCCI media release.
Raina has however joined the squad in Delhi and was even a part of the practice session on Tuesday, October 18.
Raina was dropped after the ODI series against South Africa late last year. He wasn't a part of the ODI squad that toured Australia in early 2016 and the tour of Zimbabwe that followed.
The fever had also kept Raina out of Uttar Pradesh's Ranji fixture against Madhya Pradesh when he was named in the eleven but couldn't bat in either innings.
