Indian Women’s Cricket team defeated Sri Lanka Lanka by 16 runs in a group stage match on Wednesday in ICC Women’s World Cup tournament that was held at the County Cricket in Derby.
Sri Lankan team couldn’t able to score 233 runs as their players got out at regular intervals. In the beginning of match, middle-order players including Chamari Atapattu (25), Dilani Manodara (37) and Shashikala Siriwardene (61) showed magnificient batting but Indian bowlers soon conquered them.
On the other hand, Indian players Poonam Yadav and Jhulan Goswami displayed great bowling and they took two wickets of Sri Lankan players.
In the starting of game, Deepti Sharma (78) and skipper Mithali Raj (53) batting helped India to make a good score of 232/8.
Indian team players Sharma and Mithali 118-run partnership in 26 overs assisted team to match the score. In the middle of game, Sharma smashed 10 boundaries in her 110-balls.
In the 40th over, Jhulan Goswami (9) was send back to the pavilion as she got out by making only 9 runs.
Batswomen Harmanpreet Kaur (20) and Veda Krishnamurthy (29) included 50 runs till 6th wicket ahead both players were expelled by pacer S. Weerakkody in the same over.
Players Sushma Verma (11) and Mansi Joshi (2) battled in the slog overs, and thus Sri Lanka figured out how to keep India underneath the 250-run score.
For Sri Lanka, Weerakkody clinched three wickets, on the other hand, Ranaweera took two wickets.
