Hyderabad boy Rohit Khandelwal wins Mr World 2016 title, First Indian Winner of the Pageant


New Delhi: Rohit Khandelwal has become the first Indian to win the coveted title of Mr World 2016 at the grand finale of the Mr World competition held at the Southport Theatre & Convention Centre in Southport, UK. Rohit competed with 46 contestants and was awarded the title at the grand finale held in Southport, UK on July 19.

"I feel so privileged and humbled to be Mr World 2016. I would like to thank all my fans and all the people who have been giving me all their blessings. It is only your love and support that has been my inspiration to win Mr World 2016. It has been an amazing journey to this point, and I cannot wait to see what happens next," Rohit was quoted as saying on Mr World's official website.

He Instagrammed a picture of himself with Mr World 2014 Nicklas Pedersen after winning the title.  Khandelwal, who looked dapper in a tuxedo by designer Nivedita Saboo, received a cash prize of USD 50,000 on winning this celebrated title. Fernando Alvarez, 21, from Puerto Rico and Aldo Esparza Ramirez, 26, from Mexico were the first and second runner respectively. 

The event was hosted by Filipino Superstar & Miss World 2013 Megan Young alongside professional singer & former Mr England Jordan Williams and Frankie Cena of Canada. Khandelwal also competed for various sub-titles at the pageant like Mr World Multimedia Award, Mr World Talent, Mobstar People's Choice Awards, Mr World Sports Event and won the Mr World Multimedia Award.
