The child suffered critical burn injuries and is undergoing treatment at the Osmania General Hospital  where the victim, Mohammed Ali Shair, the youngest of the four children of Md Rahim, an auto rickshaw driver and Yasmin, a housewife is battling for life.

On Monday, Ali was playing in front of his house along with some other children when his neighbour, riding a bike, reached the spot. He shouted at the children, asking them to move away. According to the three-year-old's parents, he could not understand what the accused said, and did not move from the spot.

Infuriated at this the boy threatened the child once again but when he did not move the accused got down from his bike and  he allegedly took some petrol and poured it on the boy and set him ablaze.

Other kids raised an alarm and Ali Shair was immediately rushed to Osmania General Hospital. He suffered burns on his head, neck, shoulders and back. The doctors who are treating Ali say that his condition is critical and he needs better treatment. The Health Minister C Laxma Reddy said that they would ensure the best possible treatment for Ali.

Based on Rahim’s complaint police registered a case under Section 285. “We found the minor boy was playing with a petrol bottle and accidentally petrol spilled and fell on Ali who was standing nearby,” Kalapathar SI G. Sravan Kumar said.
