Lemons are one of the best remedies for itchy skin, thanks to the rich content of vitamin C and fruit’s bleaching properties. Besides itching, the volatile oil in lemon numbs sensations and is effective against inflammation. Just apply a little juice over the itchy area to get relief from itching. 

Coconut Oil

Coconut oil is excellent for itchy skin, whether it has occurred as a result of dry skin or an insect bite. Rub a little coconut oil onto the affected area or if you have a widespread itch all over the body, soak in a bathtub of lukewarm water. 

Aloe Vera

Aloe vera has skin smoothening agents and moisturizing action to give you much-needed relief from itching. Just rub the aloe gel over an itchy spot to reduce the irritation and get rid of the itchiness. 


Peppermint leaves are an excellent remedy for itching, as it provides a cooling sensation. You need to crush up the leaves and rub it onto the affected area. You can also use the crushed peppermint leaves with the cold ice cubes as it numbs the affected area and bring down swelling and inflammation.

Tulsi or Holy Basil

Tulsi is known to reduce irritation of the skin. It has thymol, eugenol and camphor- the components that prove extremely effective against skin inflammation. Boil a few tulsi leaves in water and after it cools, apply to the itchy skin.
