Bhubaneswar: Argentina hockey team defeated Indian hockey team on Friday by 1-0 in the semi-final of Hockey World League (HWL) final. In the 17th minute of game, Argentina clinched penalty corner which helped the team to score 1-0 against India.
It was a hard-hitting match for India as well as Argentina. The winner showed why they are called ‘Champions’ whereas Indian team missed various opportunities against Argentina.
Argentina made use of the penalty corner that came their way to faultlessness in the initial semi-final of the eight- nation tournament.
In the 17th minute, Player Gonzalo Peillat clinched short corner to take a lead of 1-0 lead against India in the third and fourth quarters of game.
Prior, goalkeeper Akash Chikte showcased great performance as India defeated Olympic silver medallists Belgium by 3-2 in a penalty shootout match to reach to the semi-final round of the FIH Hockey World League (HWL) Final held on Wednesday.
The International Hockey Federation’s (FIH) took decision to carry on with the game in spite of not good pitch conditions due to heavy rainfall.
Agentina achieved their first penalty corner in the second quarter of match and player Gonzalo Peillat great efforts during the match helped the team to win the game.
Prior in the day, Netherlands thrashed England by a great goal to end seventh. Indian team will face off Australia and Germany in the bronze medal match that will take place on Sunday.
