Hizbul Mujahideen militant killed in J&K gunfight


Jammu and Kashmir: Gunfire on Friday occurred between the security forces and militants in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag district in which militant of Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) and other unknown person were killed.

Police officials also conveyed that information about the presence of three militants in Herpora (Kanelwan) area of Anantnag district, police introduced an operation, Rashtriya Rifles and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). During the haunt process militants started firing at the security forces, resulting in exchange of fire.

Taking benefit of midnight darkness, two militants fired and directed to slip away from the cordon. Police further conveyed that, the security forces continue firing on the fleeing terrorists. Police officials further added that one militant of HM namely Yawar Nissar Shergujri alias Algazi was also killed in the encounter.

One SLR (self-loading rifle), 2 magazines, 40 rounds of ammunition, one Chinese hand grenade and a pouch were recovered from the killed militant. And one army jawan of Rashtriya Rifles, Rifleman Rohit Kumar also sustained grievance.
