Himachal Pradesh: Four people wounded in group clash in mosque


The youth of Himachal Pradesh threw up stones on the Muslims on Tuesday morning while they were doing Eid Prayers at Madrasa Quadria Missarwala near Paonta Sahib in Sirmaur district. Later, when police officials came to know about the incident they started firing teargas shells on the youth.

The reports revealed that the violence was committed by Madrasa students at the masjib complex. Atleast four students were injured in the incident.

When the incident took place, there were around 2500 people including children and many others. They were participating in the morning prayers on the occasion of Eid-ul –Zuha.

Later, the action was taken by police officials against the students group.

“The incident is result of some rivalry between two factions of the community and one group apparently instigated the students to resort to this mischief. Though no one was injured, i have taken the incident very seriously and appropriate action will be taken,” Superintendent of Police (Sirmaur), Soumya Sambasivan said.

She added, “Some precautions were already taken by the police by sending deployments. The police was also aware of the persons who were behind this trying to ‘replicate stone pelting in Kashmir but this is not acceptable. There will be strong action to send a message.”
