Heavy rains likely to hit Gujarat for two more days : IMD


Gujarat: Extremely heavy rainfall hit Gujarat and nearby areas on Monday leading to chaos in the city. The people faced lot of problem due to  heavy downpours in the city. As per India Meteorological Department (IMD), the city will witness rainfall over the next two days. Gujarat state government has directed authorities to stay attentive due to the heavy rainfall.

It asserted that, very heavy rainfall is expected to hit at isolated places in Gujarat region on Tuesday and Wednesday. As per the reports, Gujarat and nearby areas will witness heavy rainfall on Wednesday.

Jayanta Sarkar, director, IMD Ahmedabad asserted, “The rains can be attributed to the low pressure area lying over south Rajasthan and neighborhood and an associated upper air cyclonic circulation. A trough line has been created from south Gujarat coast to north Maharashtra, which will also lead to good rains across the state.”

Several states have been facing heavy spell of rain since few days due to which the flood situation aroused in some areas. As per IMD, the rainfall in Gujarat is likely to continue for about two more days.

As per officials, Gujarat has got over 56% of its annual average rainfall in the last week.
