Haryana: Man driving Uber cab booked for harassment

An uber cab driver has been detained for allegedly making attempt to kidnap a woman on Monday in Haryana.  The incident occurred on March 9 evening when he was taking her to residence in Rohini, north-west Delhi.

The cops have detained the culprit from Sonipat on Monday.

As per the cops, the driver was recovered in drunken condition inside the car that was parked.

After the incident, the woman lodged complaint at the police station. At around 8 pm, she had booked an Uber cab from Kundli to Rohini Sector-3. She observed that the taxi had a white number plate in place of a yellow. Even the windows of cab were coloured.

The girl became doubtful of the driver along the way as his face did not match with the photograph given by the cab company. Moreover, she felt helpless when he rerouted the vehicle to a secret direction.

She made attempt to come out of the cab at a traffic signal but the driver locked the doors of car with the help of central locking system.

The driver of Uber cab slowed down car close to G.T. Karnal Road because of traffic and the victim took the chance to unlock the door and jump out of the car.

Later, she lodged a complaint with the Mahendra Park police station. The investigation into the incident is in process.
