Two constables of the Goa police were supposedly assaulted by a group of voyagers on the renowned Calangute shoreline in North Goa today after they were advised not to drink liquor and cause nuisance, an authority said.
The episode happened at around 3.45 pm when the two constables on obligation solicited the gathering from 11 men to maintain decorum.
“The tourists, who were later recognized as hailing from Haryana and Delhi, were intoxicated when they began hitting the constables who were in uniform,” Calangute police headquarters inspector Jivba Dalvi told reporters tonight.
As the constables were dwarfed, different travelers accumulated at the spot while extra police forces were brought in, Mr Dalvi said.
All the eleven men were captured under different sections of the IPC and created under the local court of the nearby court which remanded them in legal authority.
“Their medical examination has affirmed the presence of liquor in their blood,” the cop said.
