American fashion bike-maker Harley-Davidson is prepping up to accelerate its India engagement by opening several brand outlets across top metro cities in India.
Currently its working on boosting the exports to the US and other European Countries. The push comes more effectively as US President Donald Trump has showed concern against the duty on imported Harley bikes. He feels that a recent cut in import duty (to 50%) is not sufficient.
MD for Harley-Davidson’s India and China markets, Peter Mackenzie said in an interview that the company is bullish on growth prospects in India and would strengthen operations.
In the recent times, Harley retails its products through 26 stores, but Peter Mackenzie said it has plans for an expansion through a very different retail concept in India.
The concept is these stores will not vend motorcycles instead it will vend clothing in high-end obtaining fashion where there is dense sound.
Harley Davidson had began it’s enterprises in India in 2009, and has sell around 28,000 motorcycles since then. Harley Davidson has also set-up a making action at Bawal in Haryana to make some of the versions that it sells locally. Bikes that are marketed to the US and Europe are also made here.
