Gujarat student violence turns communal, one dead


Patan: At Least two persons died and 10 others wounded in a communal violence in Gujarat. The incident took place in Patan district after a crowd robbed and set 50 houses on fire.

Patan Superintendent of Police Ashwin Chauhan asserted, a minor argument started between two students when they were going to school for the papers in Vadavali village. In the violence, nearly three people from surrounding villages started beating each other.

The crowd first robbed and then set 50 houses on fire. The reports revealed that many vehicles were set ablaze which were standing outside the houses.

When police officials came to know about the incident, they reached to the area but with the situation intimidating to twirl out of control, in-charge Director General of Police P.P. Pandey send off Inspector General of Police, Gandhinagar to make the situation better.

Nearly 10 fire brigades reached to the spot from Mehsana, Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar to quench the fire in the houses and vehicles set on fire.

Police started doing a baton-charge and used teargas shells to scatter the mob but the clashes continued. Later, when they opened fire, one youth died. Nearly 10 people suffered injuries in stone throwing between the two groups.
