A police official said that eight civilians including three women and two CRPF jawans were injured. All the injured were taken to nearby government-run district hospital. The doctors said that they have sustained minor splinter injuries in the blast and are stable.

Meanwhile, the CRPF and state police reinforcements have laid siege and search operation has been launched. The attack came a day after security forces launched a fresh offensive to flush out militants, who stormed into a government building in Pampore.

On Monday, two to three militants stormed into the Entrepreneurship Development Institute (EDI) complexes in the wee hours and took positions inside one of the buildings. The ultras could have entered the complex from the riverside but that can only be ascertained once the operation is over.

After getting inside the complex, the militants set on fire few mattresses inside a hostel room to attract the attention of the police and other security forces, which arrived within minutes of the smoke emanating from the building. The area around the EDI premises has been cordoned off and exchange of fire was going on.
