Govt : Paramilitary men dying in action considered martyrs


NEW DELHI: On Wednesday, All paramilitary staff who die in action are considered martyrs, minister of state for home Hansraj Ahir said.

Ahir said in Lok Sabha that enough protection gear, modern arms and ammunition are provided to paramilitary personnel deployed for various law and order duties.

“The individuals who pass on in real life are considered martyrs,” he said during Question Hour.

The minister said no paramilitary work force was slaughtered while managing riots and different challenges in various parts of the nation over the most recent four years.

He said upwards of 3,436 paramilitary work force were harmed in the vicinity of 2014 and March 21, 2017.

Be that as it may, 12 policemen were murdered and 4,780 of them harmed by wild crowds amid 2013-15.

Ahir said the state government concerned is commanded to take measures to guarantee insurance of their police work force.

The Centre provides assistance for procurement of various safety instrument and equipments including anti-riot equipment, full body protector, bullet resistant jackets and bullet resistant helmets under the modernisation police force scheme as per their operational requirements and strategic priorities, he said.
