Government disapproves Google’s Street View


A daily paper had provided details regarding January 30 that Home Ministry, which chooses the exceptional status for such administrations, was unrealistic to permit Google's Street View administrations in India given warnings raised by the Defense Ministry. It is learnt that a specialized board of trustees of the Defense Ministry, which involves authorities from Indian Air Force, Military Intelligence, Navy, Army and Intelligence Bureau, had collectively restricted the administration, the authority said.


"The principle concern was security of delicate barrier establishments. The Defense Ministry said it was impractical to screen the administration once it was dispatched and it is impeding to national security," said a senior government official.


Post-Pathankot attack


The proposition was rejected in February itself, basically in the midst of security worries after the dread assault at the Pathankot airbase on January 1-2. Exploring offices suspect that terrorists utilized Google maps as they knew about the airbase's geology.
