Google doodle celebrates India’s 70th Independence Day


NEW DELHI: On the occasion of 70th Independence Day, Google Doodle has made historic "Tryst with Destiny" speech of the country's first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru as their icon.

Before the Indian Constituent Assembly, Jawaharlal Nehru had delivered the historic speech in Parliament House.

"Long years ago we made a tryst with destiny, and now that time comes when we shall redeem our pledge, not wholly or in full measure, but very substantially. At the stroke of midnight hour, when the world sleeps, India will awake to life and freedom," he had said in the speech.

At the bottom of the Parliament House, the google doodle has written 1947.

Previous year google had showcased Gandhi's Dandi March on its doodle. Moreover, it had also portrayed various versions of the Indian flag and tricolor as well as even the national bird, the peacock had been included in Google's Independence Day doodles for India.
