Golfers Lahiri-Chawrasia will represent India at Rio Olympics

Indian Golfers Anirban Lahiri and SSP Chawrasia will symbolize India at the Olympic Games which will be played in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, next month.

In the International Golf Federation ranking list, Asia No. 1 Lahiri (world rank 62) and Indian Open champion SSP Chawrasia (world rank 207) were placed at 20th and 45th position.

"Olympian Anirban Lahiri sounds good, but Olympic medalist Anirban Lahiri would sound way better," Lahiri said.

In 2015 season, Lahiri had secured two wins in the European Tour and he had showcased his best results with phenomenal tied fifth finish at the PGA Championship.

Last year at the President Cup, Lahiri made history by turning into the main Indian to be a part of the International Team.

Lahiri will play his ninth successive match in the Rio Olympics.

Chawrasia has won four international titles, including three on the European Tour and another at the Indian Open this year that helped him to get a place for the Olympics.

Moreover, for this season Chawrasia will pair up with Lahiri as both the golfers had shown their best in the recent years.
