Ganga and five other rivers are flowing above danger mark in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh


Flood situation arised in many parts of UP and MP as water level of Ganga and five other rivers has rised and the flow of water has reached to the danger mark. The rise in water level has created flood like situation in Uttar Pradesh and many other states.

Nearly 22 persons have died while 23.71 lakh people have been affected in Bihar floods with many areas.

Due to the heavy rainfall, around 23.71 people have been affected. Around 1,115 villages under 362 panchayats have suffered a lot, Disaster Management Department statement said.

The death toll has reached to 12 in the Bhojpur district while Vaishali suffered (6), Bhagalpur (2) and one each in Buxar and Lakhisarai district.

Many parts of Bihar are facing the flood like situation including Patna, Vaishali, Buxar, Bhojpur, Saran, Begusarai, Samastipur, Lakhisarai, Khagaria, Munger, Bhagalpur and Katihar — a Disaster Management Department statement said.

The reports revealed that Ganga and five other rivers are flowing above danger mark in Patna, Bhagalpur, Khagaria, Katihar, Siwan, Bhojpur and Buxar districts of Bihar.

“Ganga was flowing above danger mark at six places in Digha ghat, Gandhi Ghat, Hathidah in Patna, Bhagalpur and Kahalgaon in Bhagalpur district, and in certain points of Munger district and Buxar district,” it said.

According to the Centre Water Commission (CWC), Ganga is flowing above the danger mark at Fafamau and Chatnag in Allahabad, Mirzapur, Varanasi, Ghazipur and Ballia, while Yamuna is flowing above red mark at Chillaghat (Banda), Hamirpur and Naini (Allahabad).

High alert has been done in many parts of Bihar including isolated places in Singrauli, Sidhi, Rewa, Satna, Umaria, Katni, Shahdol, Rajgarh, Guna and Agar-Malwa.
