Gambhir has thanked BCCI and all his supporters. In between these two years (2014-2016), Gambhir tried hard at the domestic level to make his way back to Indian cricket team.

The 34-year-old left-hand batsman, who last played for India against England in 2014, tweeted about how excited and nervous he is to represent India again in whites. Rahul suffered a hamstring strain in the first Test and will not be available for the next two matches, said a statement from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

"Excitement of a debutant, certainty of experienced, nervousness of a feeling it all. Eden here I come loaded with ambitions", Gambhir tweeted.

Dhawan, though, has that ability to take the game away from the opposition in a session and Kohli being the espouser of positivity, that just might prove to be the difference when the India playing XI is selected for the second Test, which begins on Friday.

Gambhir has been in good form scoring 356 runs in five innings at an average of 71.20 in the Duleep trophy. India Test captain Virat Kohli said the team generally bats in order of match day batting line-up on the eve of a Test match. Rahul might have not scored big in the first Test, but his intent was key to India making a big total in the second innings. Gambhir opened the innings for the Blue's and scored a 90 and 59 in two innings against the India Green.
