The incident happened on Friday when eight persons were killed as a utility vehicle carrying 15 persons fell into a gorge at Akhori village in Tehri district. Four women and four men, including the driver, were killed.
The vehicles was going from Ghansali when the driver lost control of the vehicle”. The accident happened 30 kms from Ghansali towards Akhori Tehri Senior Superintendent of Police Narayan Singh said.
Seven others have been injured, six of whom have been admitted to a hospital in Ghansali. “One person was critically injured and was taken to a hospital in Dehradun,” Mr. Singh said.
“The accident took place at 3 p.m. The bad condition of roads in the Akhori area could be a reason behind the accident. An enquiry is on,” Mr. Singh said.
