Former Kerala Minister and Speaker TS John passes away


Kochi: Kerala Assenbly former speaker TS John passed away at a hospital no Thursday. 76 year old TS John was under treatment at a private hospital in Alapuzha for cancer. He was the Minister for Food and civil supplies in the Ministries headed by AK Antony and PK Vasudevan Nair during fifth KLA in 1977-78.

A lawyer by profession, John, one of the founder members of Kerala Congress, was elected to the assembly from Kalooppara constituency four times. He became a Member of the Assembly for the first time as a Kerala Congress Member.       

He was the speaker during 1976-77 in the fourth KLA. He was elected to Kerala Assembly from  Kallooppara in 1970,1977, 1982 and 1996. He had also served as the Minister for Food & Civil Supplies from October 19, 1978 to October 27, 1978 in the Antony Ministry.           

In the reconstituted Ministry that followed under the leadership of P K Vasudevan Nair, he continued to be the Minister for Food & Civil Supplies, from October 29, 1978 to October 7 1979.
