Former IAS officer Alka Sirohi appointed chairman of Union Public Service Commission (UPSC)


New Delhi: Former IAS officer Alka Sirohi has been appointed director of Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), set up of Deepak Gupta who demits office on Tuesday.

President Pranab Mukherjee has named Ms Sirohi to play out the obligations of the post of the director, UPSC, with impact from September 21, a request issued by Department of Personnel and Training said.She is right away individual from the Commission. The arrangement is till further requests or till finish of her term as part on January 3, 2017, whichever is prior, it said.

The post of executive, UPSC, will fall empty on Tuesday, subsequent after demitting of office by Mr Gupta on accomplishing 65 years old of superannuation, the request said. Unexpectedly, the Center had in November 2014 designated Mr Gupta as the UPSC boss, which was a break from the convention of naming the boss from the serving individuals from the commission.

Ms Sirohi is a resigned IAS officer of the Madhya Pradesh framework. Before joining the Commission as a part in January 2012, she was Secretary, Department of Personnel and Training.
