Former Hockey Coach Muhammad Imran Now Sells Tracksuits For A Living


Former hockey coach Mohammad Imran, who has given the nation five international players and over 50 national-level players, is selling track suites for a livelihood in Uttar Pradesh's Gorakhpur district.

Muhammad Imran is now selling tracksuits on a bicycle. He is the one who coached the vice-captain of women hockey team, Nidhi Khullar. He continues to train aspiring hockey players in the little time he is able to spare after earning his daily bread.

Muhammad Imran used to play for Fertilisation Corporation of India (FCI) which was shut down and he became a roadside vendor. Rita Pandey, Rajni Choudhari, Sanjeev Ojha, Pratima Choudhari, Janardan Gupta and Sanvar Ali are among some of the international players Imran trained.

Under his guidance, from 1975 to 1985, FCI emerged as Hockey Champion of inter tournaments. In 1986, the Indian government shut down the work of Fertilisation Corporation of India. Thereafter, he started training the young players of hockey.
