Jogi finally opted for “Chhattisgarh Janata Congress”. During today’s function, Jogi was accompanied on the stage by his wife Renu who is also an MLA from Kota, son Amit, MLAs Rajendra Kumar Rai and Siyaram Kaushik besides many other former Congress leaders. Jogi who was not happy with the Congress high command for a long time owing to differences on   Various issues had announced earlier this month that he would his launch his own political party that will aim to dislodge the Raman Singh government in Chhattisgarh.

The Congress party had dropped him from Congress Working Committee (CWC), just a day after he made this announcement. In January early this year, the name of Ajit Jogi and his son Amit had figured in Antagarh tapes which purportedly hinted at their attempt to ensure withdrawal of the Congress candidate from the bypoll in 2014. The BJP had finally won the seat as the Congress candidate had pulled out of the contest which severely embarrassed the party.
