On June 27 at around 5 am in the morning, a fire broke out at the Hengdian World Studios in China – and no one seemed bothered by it. The reason? Everybody thought the fire was a part of some movie shoot occurring on the sets of the studio! “Since they are always shooting movies around Hengdian, everybody probably thought it was only a film shoot, so they didn’t call the police,” a lady was reported for telling journalists, as indicated by the Shanghaiist.
Located amidst farmlands in China’s Zhejiang province, the Hengdian Studios have been the site of various Chinese motion picture shoots. Local people in the area, presumably used to fires on the set, did not think much it when a real one broke out.
A video on YouTube demonstrates the extent of the fire:
It was simply after a good while, when the raging fire did not abate, that somebody called emergency services, as indicated by the Shanghaiist.
Firefighters reached the area at around 7 am and managed to extinguish the blaze. Luckily, nobody was harmed in the fire.
