The charges has been put against Aam Aadmi Party MLA Sahi Ram Pehalwan on Monday for hurting and doing wrongful restraint with a resident in southeast Delhi’s Okhla.
An FIR was filed on the basis of a complaint by the resident Yogendra Bidhuri, Police said. He added that, “MLA and two of his associates had beaten him up and threatened to kill him after he objected to a road being built outside his house.”
Complaint stated, “When Yogendra Bidhuri was doing work, Pehalwan and his supporters began to beat him up with sticks and other sharp objects. His family members rushed him to AIIMS from he was discharged after the treatment.”
Just after the incident, Bidhuri went to the police station and notified them about the matter. A case has been registered under sections 324, 505 and 341 of the Indian Penal Code at Okhla Industrial Area police station, said police.
Police added, ‘A cemented road was being constructed in a lane outside his house in Tekhand.’
The MLA refused all the charges that were put on him by the resident.
“The MLA and the complainant live in the same locality. He told us that he was not present during the scuffle. We are verifying the facts,” said the officer.
