In an offer to help the sagging exports sector , Union Commerce and Industries Minister Nirmala Sitharaman today asked the business to "effectively engage" with the administration and talk about the issues exporters are confronting.
currency volatility, internationally, the demand is not catching up and the WTO (World Trade Organisation) itself is revising the estimates for the second time on global exporters. Of course, there are concerns which I would voice I would want the industry to interact with the government much more,” Sitharaman said at a function here organised by the Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO).
“I would definitely ask the FIEO to be able to provide platform for the government and the exporters need to talk about what kind of relief measures were needed and also suggest sectoral issues that need to be addressed,” she said, after handing over the Exports Excellence Awards organised by the FIEO, Southern Region.
She said the exporters were searching for the markets that were “still sustainable for exports”.
