Mahindra and Mahindra the leading and giant homegrown automaker has launched the electric version of its commercial vehicle Supro in India on Thursday, at a price of Rs 8.45-8.75 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Prices in other states will depend on local taxes and subsidies.
Pravin Shah, President and Chief (Automotive), Mahindra & mahindra Ltd. said, “The launch of eSupro will usher in a whole new concept in emission-free cargo transportation and people movement. The eSupro will provide a much needed fillip to companies in the B2B and e-commerce segment.
“Owing to its host of commercial applications and its sutability for last mile connectivity, the eSupro platform is ideally suited for the deployment in e-commerce, courier services and transportation companies for the infra city use,” said Arvind Mathew, Chief Executive Officer, Mahindra Electric.
The launch takes the number of product offerings in Mahindra’s electric vehicle portfolio to four. The electric versions of the passenger and cargo variants of the Supro join existing models e2o and e-Verito.
The two vehicles launched on Thursday are targeted at intra-city transportation of goods and passengers. Running on rechargeable lithium ion battery, both the vehicles will run for 112 kilometre upon full charge. The company said that the operating cost of both these vehicles will be less than half as that of vehicles which run on fossil fuels.
The eSupro comes with a 72V battery pack of long-life, maintenance-free lithium-ion batteries. The vehicles emergency feature will give 7 kms of extra range once you are out of charge.
