Ludhiana: Ten bogies of the Jhelum Express got derailed on Tuesday morning near Ludhiana. The incident took place in early morning which injured around three people. Another trains of that route got cancelled.
Eight coaches of the train have been shifted to the next station while the rear coaches were moved to Phillor. The railway authorities had done arrangements for the passengers so that they can continue their journey.
The incident occurred when the train was going on its way to Pune. Rescue operations have been started, says Additional Director General (ADG) of Railways Anil Saxena.
“Senior officials, medical and relief team have reached the accident site. Rescue and restoration work underway,” said Saxena. “Accident resulted in blockage of traffic on both sides, information on trains to be cancelled and diverted is made available by Northern Railway,” he added.
Due to the derailment, four trains were cancelled including Jalandhar-New Delhi Intercity, Amritsar- New Delhi Intercity, Amritsar-Haridwar Janshatabdi and Amritsar-Chandigarh Superfast.
