The first Additional JMFC judge, Madikeri, Annapoorneshwari has ordered the police to register an FIR against the Minister and two IPS officers based on a private complaint filed by Ganapathy’s son Nehal on July 11 after the Kushalnagar rural refused to book a case in the regard. The court, on Monday, directed the Madikeri Town police station to register an FIR as Mr. Ganapathy’s body was found in a lodge in Madikeri, where he allegedly committed suicide.

In his complaint to the court, Nehal said his father had made a “dying declaration” in which he held Mr. George and the two IPS officers responsible for his death. Hence, he contended that the acts of Mr. George and the two police officials, as per his father’s confession, amounted to “abetting the commission of suicide”. The complainant had appealed to the court to take cognizance of the offence as punishable under Section 306 of IPC R/W 34 of IPC.
