New Delhi: The Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) will look for a clarification from Brazilian aviation combination Embraer on claimed kickbacks in an arrangement for air ship amid the UPA administration, the Defense Ministry said on Saturday.Embraer in 2008 sold three EMB 145 AEW iamp; C (Airborne Early Warning and Control) air ship to the Indian government. The arrangement was worth $208 million.
"The DRDO to look for clarification and subtle elements from makers of Embraer air ship on the media gives an account of arrangement for the flying machine marked in 2008," the service said in a tweet.
"On receipt of data by DRDO further strides might be started," the tweet said.
This comes after a report in Brazilian daily paper "Folha de Sao Paulo", saying examinations have been opened by the US government to build up whether Embraer paid fixes to get contracts abroad.
As per the report, the organization has been under scrutiny by the US Justice Department since 2010 when an agreement with the Dominican Republic raised the Americans' suspicions.
From that point forward, the examination has extended to inspect business dealings with eight more nations, including India and Saudi Arabia.
